Listening to Sports Radio Equal to Drunk Driving
UPI is out with news of a British report that "...listening to sports on the radio while driving can be as dangerous as drunken driving."The Transport Research Laboratory did the study using 9 men and 9 women between the ages of 25 - 54. It found reaction times were slowed by 20% when drivers listened to sports.
In other words: their delayed reaction would add 20 additional feet of stopping time if traveling 70 miles per hour.
And that's just sports. No word on what Radio does to your concentration when you're listening to political talk radio!

National Public Radio Drops the “Radio” Part
NPR is no longer "National Public Radio". It's just "NPR"According to Michael Calderone at news.yahoo.com: "National Public Radio believes it's moved beyond just radio. So the nonprofit network's dropping the 'radio' designation in its company name--so 20th century, right? It's now rechristened itself to fit the aspirations of a 21st century, multi-platform media company... NPR chief executive Vivian Schiller told the Washington Post that "NPR is more modern, streamlined."
And in other news that's satirically false, The National Weather Service is suing Cumulus Broadcasting for interfering with the name value of clouds and are requesting the company change its name to just CB (since it's more modern). But, CB radio fans across the country say that would force them to refer to themselves as CBUs, standing for "CB Users". Meanwhile, California Baptist University (CBU) says it is afraid potential undergrads would be confused by all this and wind up sending their admission applications to a man who hangs out on channel 43 at a truck stop in Clegglefern, Iowa.
