Radio is your friend. Well, usually. Occasionally, a radio - or the business of Radio - can be dangerous and even downright deadly. Here are 10 instances where it might have been better to be watching TV or doing anything else but being near or listening to radio.
Garry Meier, one of Chicago's enduring radio personalities, granted a rare interview to RadioGirl (aka Margaret Larkin). (Screenshot: www.wgnradio.com)
It's a very amusing chat with a witty and congenial Meier: "I started when I was six...I started talking when I was in first grade and just kept talking until I could make a living off it."
Garry Meier is now heard weekdays from 1 - 4 p.m. on WGN/Chicago but in the past has partnered with two other iconic Chicago radio men: Steve Dahl and Roe Conn.
Since the announcement of the passing of former WABC-AM and WCBS-FM deejay, Ron Lundy, tributes have been rolling in from all corners of Radio and the listener community. (Right: Ron Lundy Publicity photo)
A post on the New York Radio Message Board announced a weekend at Rewound Radio featuring all Ron Lundy. Unscoped airchecks from both radio stations (including his final show on CBS-FM) will be streamed. Rewound Radio writes: "This is a chance to relive hearing Ron from his early days in 1965 until his retirement in 1997."
The Ron Lundy tribute begins Friday at 3pm on Rewound Radio.

Ron Lundy, one of the deejays who made 77 WABC/New York a Top 40 icon during the 1960s and 1970s, has died. Lundy worked at WABC-AM from 1965 until 1982. When WABC flipped to talk radio, Lundy made a move to WCBS-FM where he worked from 1982 until 1997.
According to musicradio77.com, Lundy retired to Mississippi after leaving WCBS-FM. After a series of health problems, Lundy succumbed to a heart attack. He was 75.
