Page Six at nypost.com is reporting the producers of American Idol would like to hire Howard Stern as a judge after Simon Cowell leaves at the end of this season.
But, a second source in the story revealed "...Stern hasn't made the "Idol" talks easy."
Howard Stern's contract with SIRIUS XM Radio expires at the end of this year. He makes $100 million dollars-a-year on satellite radio. Simon Cowell is paid $50 million dollars per season on American Idol.
SIRIUS XM Radio has just released a free app for BlackBerry smartphones which gives subscribers of SIRIUS XM's Premium Online access to over 120 of their channels. It works with the BlackBerry Storm, Bold, Tour, and Curve.
The app delivers the SIRIUS XM content over cellular and WiFi networks giving mobile customers a new mobility for their satellite radio choices.
The SIRIUS XM App for BlackBerry allows users to:
Listen to over 120 channels
Bookmark channels
A "Lookaround" function to see what is playing on all other available channels while viewing the current channel
In a press release, the company stated, "There is no additional charge for listening to SIRIUS XM's Premium Online programming on a BlackBerry once a user becomes a SIRIUS XM Premium Online Internet subscriber or subscribes to the Company's Premium Online service in conjunction with their satellite radio subscription."
The latest results on UK radio listening habits have been published by RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research Limited). 46 million adults (89.6% of the UK population 15+) tune into their favorite radio station weekly.
Digital Listening: 17.1 million people each week are now tuning in to radio via a digitally-enabled device.
Listening via Mobile Phone: In the last part of 2009, listening via phone was down slightly at 6.7 million people. In the third quarter of last year, listenership was at 6.9 million.
The "This American Life App" provides on-demand access to the program's archive all the way back to 1995. New episodes are added automatically and users can search for shows in various ways.
This American Life is heard by 1.8 million listeners each week on 500 Public Radio International radio stations.
